Welcome to our blog. We are happy you are here! This post will provide some brief background information about us and the journey that awaits us. We invite you to follow us for more details as we head to the field.
We are the Giles: Adam, Allison and Adeline. We got married in November 2010, and Adeline was born in April 2015. We will soon be a party of four! Cecelia Lane is due Sept. 8, 2017 and we are anxiously awaiting her arrival.
Early this coming January ’18, the four of us will be moving to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. There we will serve a four year term in Ethiopia with CMF.
While there, Adam will oversee maintenance and clean water projects, and Allison will oversee hospitality by taking care of guests, summer interns, and team mates who visit the team’s compound base in Addis.
You may ask, why this work? Why now, with 2 little kids? Well, there is so much happening right now in Ethiopia, and this is the kind of kingdom work we (and our amazing team of supporters) have the incredible privilege of being a part of:
2016 Statistics
- 450 baptisms
- 13 new churches planted with 5 new church buildings
- Total number of believers per area: 17,854
- 3 wells drilled
The team has accomplished a lot already, but there are still more people who need to hear the gospel. The Ethiopia CMF team’s most recent focus has been on reaching Muslim people groups in Metu (2 hours south of Nekempte) and Asosa (on the border with Sudan). Recent roadblocks to running medical clinics has driven the team to find other ways to care for the physical and spiritual needs of these people.
As a part of a new initiative, Adam will be overseeing the drilling of nine fifty meter wells over the course of 3 years, which will allow the team to move into these areas. He will work to provide clean water, as well as education about clean water in the local schools, but we as a team offer so much more.
Each new well drilled could bring the unreached face to face with the Living Water, the Lord Jesus Christ. And what if, in drinking His water, they could run back to their villages crying “Come meet this man!” (John 4:39)? And what if, as a result, many said “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the World” (John 4:42)? What an eternally exciting possibility–one we invite you to be a part of as well.
To help fund our work in Ethiopia, we need your help! If you are already supporting us, know that we are so thankful for you. We could not be embarking on this journey without you. If you haven’t joined our team of supporters yet, please consider giving to this ministry at cmfi.org/aagiles.
